Madonna con Bambino is a bronze sculpture created by Antonio Danzi from Viggiù (Italy) and is meanwhile also known as the “Madonna del Tamaro”. The Madonna con Bambino has been majestically watching over Restaurant Alpe Foppa and its surroundings since the 15th June 1985, thanks to the initiative to put it up here that came from Bishop Arnoldo Giovannini and Mr Egidio Cattaneo. The statue was blessed in Lugano on the 12th of June 1984 by Pope John Paul II during his visit in Ticino.
