The family-owned company Monte Tamaro SA has reached a new milestone, characterised by the complete replacement of the cable car. After over 50 years of service, the previous cable car run for the last time on 1st September 2024. The reopening of all activities and the commissioning of the new cable car are planned for late summer 2025.
Luca Cattaneo, the company’s president and main shareholder says: “It is an emotional moment, for us as a family, but also for the whole team.”
3.0 has several meanings for Monte Tamaro:
The new cable car comes with significant improvements for guests, staff and the region. The new and modern cabins with panoramic windows and seats for 8 persons offer more space than the previous 4-seater cabins. Moreover, the new cabins are easily accessible, move silently and are better ventilated, to offer a comfortable journey. Particular attention has been paid to accessibility to allow all users to move independently within the infrastructure. Already existing buildings and activities are connected to the new cable car through an equally accessible way.
Thanks to a detailed planning and high-quality architecture with attentively selected materials, the new stations will be nicely integrated into the landscape. The new cable car will not only be modern and efficient from the outside, but also from an energetic point of view. Thanks to the modern cable car system together with the new technical and constructional infrastructure, a lot of energy can be saved. It goes a step further: With the photovoltaic installation on the roof of the valley station it is possible to cover the whole current consumption over a year.
