Alpe Foppa – Duragno – Rivera

Variant further south to descend

The first section, between Alpe Foppa and Alpe Duragno, follows a relatively flat path that runs along the mountain and offers a suggestive view of Lugano and its lake. It then continues along a steeper stretch to Faedone. From here, a path that is constantly immersed in beech woods leads to Nanazzo and then skirts Val Zarigo to the picturesque neighbourhood of Soresina and finally reaches Rivera along a stretch of gravel road.
This route is worth the effort for the contact with nature and the calmness it offers. It is a little-known path and consequently little used by tourists. You will mainly meet local people.

Main stops: Alpe Foppa (Mountain station of the cable car) – Duragno – Faedone – Monti Nanazzo – Soresina – Rivera (Valley station of the cable car)
