Il Guardiano del Tempio
Strolling along the Artistic path, you will encounter “Il Guardiano del Tempio” (The Guardian of the Temple), an imposing four-meter-high granite totem.
Placed at Alpe Foppa in 2006, this work is not just a magnificent sculpture, but a true tribute to Egidio Cattaneo, the visionary founder of Monte Tamaro.
This stone giant was shaped by Luca Marcionelli, a sculptor from Ticino born in 1953, who developed a deep affinity with the material working in the region’s quarries from a young age. Carved from Castione and Peccia stone, the statue represents the strong bond between the land and the story of those who transformed Monte Tamaro into today's tourist destination.
