On Saturday 10 September 2022, the group CANTIAMO SOTTOVOCE will perform at Monte Tamaro. The concert is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli. In case of bad weather the concert will be cancelled.
It was 1968 when Professor Ugo Fasolis was asked to gather some enthusiasts to make a radio broadcast with the aim of entertaining the public, presenting songs of our country and our people. The group, initially composed of a few folk-song enthusiasts, grew larger as the years went by. Thanks to the radio broadcast, research and recovery work was done on songs that were otherwise disappearing. Currently, the group’s repertoire comprises over five hundred pieces and is stored at their radio station.
After thirty years of activity, the group decided to suspend its radio activity in order to perform mainly in the local area (for cultural associations, public bodies, in popular evenings, old people’s homes and camps for differently abled people) while still maintaining its original identity as a ‘spontaneous singing group’.
2018 marked the 50th anniversary of its foundation. In its fifty-four years of activity, the ‘Cantiamo sotto voce’, which now has some thirty active members and has expanded its repertoire to include other ethnographic realities, has performed countless concerts in all parts of the canton and produced seventeen publications (tapes and CDs).
