Another important religious artefact of the Alpe Foppa is the bronze statue of the Madonna and Child by the sculptor Antonio Danzi Viggiù. From the 15th of June, 1985 on, this statue has reigned majestically over the hollow surrounding the restaurant and is called "Our Lady of Tamaro”. Mons. Arnold Giovannini and Mr. Egidio Cattaneo spearheaded the initiative to place the statue in its towering position. The statue was blessed in Lugano, June 12, 1984 by Pope John Paul II during his visit to Ticino.
A culture route over the Monte Tamaro is taking shape
After the installation of the statue called "The Temple Guardian", by Luca Marcionelli, a monolithic statue 4 meters high erected on September 10, 2006 at Alpe Foppa, another unique work of art called "Suspended Cube" by sculptress Jaya Schürch was set up on 15 October 2008.
This work is familiar to a many people, since it was exhibited at the G ‘08 Exhibition of outdoor sculptures in Vira Gambarogno.
